DIY trim

I know I have been MIA lately, and yes I have been busy planning the Halloween party, working, working and well... more working! But I did have just a little time to add some trim to my 70's front hall closet. It's not quite done yet, it needs to be painted still and the top cupboard is still missing its trim, but so far I am very pleased what a little trim can do, instant update!

Stay tuned my blogger friends as I am working on the kitchen next...

Halloween sneak peek...

I have been putting the finishing touches on Halloween decor for my party coming up next week. I thought I'd share some of the progress with everyone.

I saw the sign

I was inspired by Susie Harris who makes these great looking old vintage signs by hand. So I decided to make some of my own for around the house. It's my first attempt so be kind!

Street Side Treasures

Looky looky what my neighbour decided to toss... I cannot wait to give this a new coat of paint, any suggestions?

Support art

About a little over a month ago my sister (Patti) hosted her first annual art fundraiser at Toronto East General Hospital to raise money for the hospital's patient care and wellness centre. While my sister is studying to become a doctor she also has quite a talent for art. She has been painting, drawing, printmaking and creating art for as long as I've known her. A lot of her artwork adorns our home. I am a very proud sister and thought it would be a great opportunity to showcase her work, as well as my good friends Miranda and Davena (artists as well). Let's all support our local artists.

Patti's artwork was also featured at NIMDAC Heart and Stroke foundation's live auction, where a lot of money was raised to support this great cause.

Canadian House & Home.com

Just the other day I was lucky enough to be mentioned among some of my other favourite bloggers in House & Home's Greatest Canadian Blogs volume 2. Thank you to Trish (online editorial director for H&H) for mentioning WALLPAPER and thank you again to all of you who drop by, look around and leave encouraging comments. I can't say it enough, but WALLPAPER really is my passion and I love posting and blogging, I hope you all continue to enjoy it as well.

DIY

A while back I had just finished my favourite tea called chocolate conspiracy by "Tea in the Sahara" and I realized 1. that I needed to go and buy a new one  and 2. that I had the tea tin left over... so I decided this was the perfect opportunity for a DIY. Here is the final product:

I spray painted the tin grey, then I used a bird stamp on it and added the sticker letters, when all was dry I sealed the tin with a clear high laquer spray.

With these ones I just used different colours, same technique

Happy Thanksgiving

Here in Canada we are celebrating Thanksgiving. I thought I might upload some great pictures of Fall landscapes I took a few weeks back, enjoy :)

Value Village Finds

I've been busy lately, what with the deck and the entire backyard reno that seems like it should have ended months ago! But of course I am never too busy to thrift, and what better place than Value Village. Here's what I found at my local store:

I have been looking for an old vintage movie camera for so long

You can't have enough of these, right?

Salt or Sel? cute right?

News...

I have some fantastic news...I finally took the step and opened my own Etsy Shop offering handmade prints and photos. I hope you can all check it out ThePaperie.etsy.com

So far...

Here are some  more recent pictures of the deck thus far. A new surprise is that I have put in a sliding door, yes yes, I tried hard to do french doors, but I just didn't have the space inside for when the doors opened inward. Apparently if you want your french doors to swing outward they are double the price! Alas I had to settle for a sliding door, but the cool thing is that it is self tinting, oh and yes, I am going to paint them, maybe the colour of the shutters on the shed? what do you think?
